Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Position Summary

Bechtel seeks an experienced communications professional to manage an internal communications program at the construction site for the Ohio Semiconductor Factory.

The successful candidate will be a strong writer with experience in employee communications in a fast-paced environment for diverse non-manual and craft populations including employees with no access to computers. Duties will include managing and development of written and electronic communications products that support business goals, such as change management, safety and quality campaigns, construction updates, and motivational or engagement campaigns.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develops ideas for publications, writes and edits stories, assembles information and multimedia, consistent with project business goals.
  • Develops and executes detailed communications plans, products, and actions for internal initiatives such as safety, security, company culture, or quality campaigns.
  • Advises project senior leadership on communication methods and approaches especially regarding change management.
  • Writes speeches, talking points, or presentations for project leadership.
  • Setup and support of all-hands meetings.
  • Integrates with customer communications team to achieve mutual goals.
  • Contributes to or develops regular workforce newsletters.
  • Supports dissemination of proactive stories about milestones, accomplishments, stewardship, or community activities.
  • Organizes stewardship activities.
  • Contributes to and analyzes measurement of communications campaign outputs and outcomes.
  • The job location is New Albany, Ohio.
  • This position is not expected to involve travel.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen or be able to work and remain in the US without sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relative experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Bechtel organization and/or experience working in a matrixed organization or project environment
  • Knowledge of press release formulation and Associated Press style
  • Skill in writing, editing and interviewing
  • Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Intermediate skill in preparing PowerPoint presentations
  • Available during non-work hours for emergency situations or overtime requirements
  • Ability to walk on a project site (including some areas of uneven terrain) for extended periods of time to support tours, events, media interactions.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment in construction zone, to include but not limited to, hardhat, safety glasses, reflective vest, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with safety culture and conduct of operations concepts.
  • Skill in SharePoint or other web content management systems.
  • Knowledge or skill of basic video production.
  • Supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to develop solutions to problems where guidelines are not well defined.
