Project Overview:
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world
Job Summary:
Responsible for assigned activities within the Engineering Project. Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering specifically in the area of Civil/Structural Engineering. Makes decisions independently concerning problems on the project. As assigned, represents the Civil Resident Assistant Project Engineer (APE) on the project and interfaces with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work. Reports directly to Civil Resident APE. Maintains contacts with client representatives as directed, with suppliers, appropriate field personnel, Project Engineers, and Engineering disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements. Candidate should have exposure to 3D modeling and viewing tools such as Navisworks and Tekla and shall have knowledge of industry standard Structural and Finite Element Analysis package such as STAAD Pro, GTSTRUDL, etc. Candidate’s exposure to modular/ precast construction, design of Flat slab/Cheese/Waffle slab will be an added advantage.

Major Responsibilities:
- Accountable to the Civil Resident APE for coordination of Engineering and Construction/Procurement activities, in accordance with the established technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
- Accountable to the Civil Resident APE for the performance of select engineering tasks, in accordance with the established technical quality standards, cost, and schedule.
- Accountable to the Civil Resident APE for ensuring that facilities and systems are installed in accordance with the engineering specifications and requirements.
- Coordinates with the engineer of record and provides field support during construction.
- Ensures design documents reflect as-built conditions.
- Manages the specification of construction hold points and inspection requirements.
- Coordinates resolution of field questions related to field change notices and design change notices.
- Ensures Resident Engineering tasks are completed within budget and ensures trends are processed for facility scope changes.
- Perform site walkdowns
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
- Requires extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials, applications of computer software to engineering problems to ensure the design is cost effective, in accordance with applicable safety, health, environmental regulations, customer requirements and engineering codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
- Must have working knowledge of engineering procedures, covering discipline deliverables, production and control, as well as organization and responsibilities for the Engineering Department.
- Thorough knowledge of business practices, project forecasting required.
- Experience in resolving complex technical problems and the ability to articulate explanations, is essential.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.
- Professional registration in relevant engineering discipline preferred.
- Previous experience/knowledge on semiconductor manufacturing design process is preferred.
