Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Manufacturing and Technology team, based in New Albany, Ohio. The Quality Engineer reports to the QMS Manager and supports the effective implementation of the project Quality Management System (QMS) through performing audits and surveillances focused on the Architectural and Civil works. 

 

This position’s primary role is supporting the implementation of the project QMS, including independently developing and performing complex professional assignments related to quality systems requiring the application of specialized and/or advanced quality engineering principles and technical analysis. Participates in full life-cycle work processes to assure effective hand-offs between organizations and optimal project performance. Performs audits and surveillances to identify and mitigate risks.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting quality audits and surveillances at Site and Off Site locations
  • Participates with other Quality Engineers in specific quality-related assignments
  • Identifies potential failure points and error precursors in requirements, work processes and process input/outputs
  • Aggregates information and data on design and work-process interfaces to assess process performance
  • Gathers and analyzes quality data to assess work process performance
  • Assists in developing and implementing quality system tools and procedures to support work processes
  • Participates in independent assessments to enable the mitigation of technical and project management risks
  • Develops and assists in implementing sampling and test/inspection plans
  • Assists in tracking the effectiveness of corrective actions and process improvement activities
  • Maintains quality management system elements and tools
  • Learns to use basic to intermediate causal analysis tools and leads apparent cause evaluations to assist in the resolution issues
  • Participates on the implementation of the project quality program/plan such as Close Loop Corrective Actions and Continuous Improvement

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Physical Science discipline from an accredited university or college with 6 years of progressive related Quality Assurance (QA) experience or in lieu of degree, a minimum of 12 years of progressive related QA experience.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Basic technical knowledge in the application of engineering, procurement, construction sufficient to comprehend requirements.
  • 3rd party Auditor Certification
  • Database and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) proficiency.
  • Understanding of the quality rigor required for projects and familiarity with project procedures.
  • Demonstrated technical editing ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively partner with functional organizations.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage a fast pace of work, prioritize tasks, adapt to changing situations, and meet short deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organization and schedule compliance.
  • A high level of personal motivation, high standards, and the ability to work within changing situations to meet short deadlines.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and functions that impact the QA program.
  • ASQ certification.
