Project Overview:
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
Bechtel is seeking a HVAC Engineer to be located at site in Ohio to support a confidential semiconductor project within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit.
Major Responsibilities:
- Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.
- When delegated, assumes a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks. Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
- Understand customer requirements and converting them into design criteria for mechanical systems manufacturing process.
- Develop schematic and conceptual designs for mechanical HVAC systems to support manufacturing process.
- Sizing mechanical equipment such as HVAC.
- Produce key mechanical engineering deliverables, including CADD models, drawings, specifications and supporting calculations.
- Review and check the work of subordinate engineers and/or subcontractors.
- Provide technical oversight of designers implementing mechanical designs in the CADD model.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- Manage engineering subcontracts with their design and delivery per contract requirements.
- Review contractor shop drawings, technical submittals, and proposals for compliance with project design requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent related field, from an accredited institution and 4-6 years of engineering experience with a minimum of 1-2-years’ experience related to HVAC systems in semiconductor / manufacturing facility.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
- Professional license or registration as a Mechanical Engineer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in the design of mechanical HVAC systems for industrial facilities
- Experience in managing engineering subcontracts with design and delivery per contract requirements.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the design of mechanical systems, including ASHRAE, ASME, IBC, IMC and NFPA.
- Knowledge on semiconductor manufacturing design process as an advantage for all positions.
- Ability to review and manipulate CADD models.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Proven team player with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Ability to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
