Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Project Field IT Lead, reporting to the Project IT Manager, to lead the IT team located at the project construction site. The position is responsible to implement and support all IT systems at site including, but not limited to, end user devices (laptops, mobile and tablet devices) site IT network infrastructure (WAN, LAN and Wireless), field IT tech/application platforms, manage IT vendors, IT security, IT governance and support an innovative culture on Project.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Define, Implement and support the field IT infrastructure for the project along with cyber security, data storage and collaboration system requirements. 
  • Provide supervision of IT Field operations and services for the Bechtel project team at site, and supervision of the IT team as required.  
  • Provide input into the IT requirements to support the execution of the project.  
  • Coordinate IT plans with the Project IT Manager and Bechtel project team.  
  • Coordinate with the PIM manager, BIM manager and DCC manager.  
  • Establish relationships with IT vendors.  
  • Coordinate the delivery of IT deliverables. 
  • Coordinate with the project team any software, workflow or dashboard developments required.  
  • Implement IT Project Procedures and adheres to Corporate and GBU IT governance framework,  
  • Provide input into and maintain the Project Automation Plan, Software Portfolio, Level 1 integration diagram and project IT handover and closeout plan. 
  • Lead, direct and train team members in the IT and Information Systems requirements to support project execution. 
  • Provide input into Project IT goals, schedules, and divisions of responsibility. 
  • Provide input into the Project IT budget and associated forecasts. 
  • Manage IT procurement and asset management at the project site. 
  • Respond to audits as required. 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant experience or 9 - 13 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. 

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, coordination skills with project, customer, peer groups (within and outside IT), and related stakeholders.  
  • Must have a good understanding of the major IT infrastructure systems (Microsoft domains, Cloud VPN, Virtual Servers, Caching File Servers, SDWAN, Teams Voice) and how to plan their implementation at a construction site. 
  • Knowledge of the software and integration architecture for Document management, project controls, Autodesk suite, workflows, and dashboards 
  • Demonstrated ability to appraise and develop team members. 
  • Proven record in innovation and work process improvement 
  • Experience writing IT scope of work documents for IT systems.  
  • Experience of mid to large scale EPC/PM/CM projects would be beneficial.
