Job Summary:
In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely. #LI-SM2
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
- Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.
Planning
- Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
Safety / Quality
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
Technical
- Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge in a field of science, safety/industrial engineering, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of safety programs/engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.
- Knowledge of national and international safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies & regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for ES&H, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes.
- Knowledge of construction planning, estimating, procedures, and execution.
- Prior practical work experience in office settings (e.g., managing ES&H programs, budgets, and staff) and field locations (e.g., construction execution and/or operating facilities) performing the responsibilities listed above.
- Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
- Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and the mechanisms to mitigate them.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.
- Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces.
- Prior experience in Nuclear construction, operations or modification work packages
- Knowledge of Bechtel standard computer applications
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s organization structure, functions, and administrative procedures.
- Must possess legal right to work in US without sponsorship.
- Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
