Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets.

Our team is continuing to advance Bechtel’s legacy with a prospective datacenter client in the Upper Midwest.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will coordinate the technical deliverables of the structural subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s structural engineering aspects are met. 

 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.#LI-AM3

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the structural engineering work for a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for foundations, piles, steel and concrete superstructures, etc. 
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions 
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements 
  • Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations 
  • Reviews Vendor and Subcontractor document submittals and coordinates the review and markup of the submittals with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Structural engineering requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution​ 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical expertise: Advanced skills and proficiency in Structural Engineering discipline​
  • Familiarity with Building Codes and Environmental Regulations: Understanding local, state, and federal regulations related to construction and data center operations, ensuring compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to Address Challenges Proactively: Track record of identifying issues and implementing effective solutions, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to Adapt to Changing Requirements: Capacity to adjust plans and strategies based on evolving project needs or industry trends.
  • Strong Communication Abilities: Clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, including technical teams, executives, and clients.
  • Demonstrated Leadership Experience: Ability to lead teams, manage conflicts, and foster a collaborative work environment to achieve project objectives.
  • Datacenter experience: Previous work experience in datacenter design, construction, or operations is preferred
