Position Summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Process Improvement Specialist II (Training Lead) for the Mining & Metals team, based in Peru. The position will be responsible for developing, implement, and supervise the execution of process improvement efforts. Duties require a high degree of accuracy, judgment, initiative, and sound technical understanding of ES&H processes, procedures, policies, and automation tools that may include the ES&H Assessment Process, training programs, and Craft-Based Leadership (CBL). 



The Senior Process Improvement Specialist II (Training Lead) is principally responsible for:

  • Manages and develops environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) learning, training, and awareness programs and initiatives as a member of a large complex project, with the objective to enhance understanding and implementation of the ES&H program within Bechtel.

  • Develops and coordinates ES&H standard and specialized courses that relate to Bechtel's ES&H requirements and subjects (core processes) and the ES&H Management System.

  • Works with subject matter experts within the corporate ES&H team, GBUs, and other functions to develop course materials and awareness strategies.

  • Has a train-the-trainer role, providing guidance to project training personnel and assuring that training quality and consistency expectations are met among GBUs and projects.

  • Prepares and maintains an overarching ES&H learning and development plan, and coordinates it with Human Resources regarding employee training requirements

  • Gives and helps to prepare presentations and facilitates GBU and project training programs.

  • Identifies and promotes innovative teaching and learning techniques.

  • Promotes a composite strategy of instructor-led and online courses, hands-on training (e.g., hazard school), posters, bulletin boards, supervisor meetings, and other methods to establish knowledge and awareness of all three ES&H disciplines.

  • Manages Bechtel's craft-based Leadership (CBL) program and provides GBU and project training on its implementation per Bechtel's core process on CBL.

  • Understands and applies the ES&H Management System to achieve continuous improvement.

  • Prepares learning, training, and marketing materials (e.g., brochures, media, and print materials).

  • May use third-party vendors to provide course materials and translation services, as required and approved.

  • Uses best practices and incident data to help improve the content of training courses and materials.

  • Uses the corporate ES&H website and other technology methods as part of a learning and awareness strategy.

  • Supports and promotes ES&H initiatives and campaigns.

  • Supports projects with specialized training requests and aids employee development needs.


Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

The Senior Process Improvement Specialist II (Training Lead) shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

  • Requires a Master of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, safety, health, education or science-related discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental, safety, health, education or science-related discipline and 12+ years of relevant experience.


Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.

  • At least 10 years in ES&H Training programs.

  • Knowledge of Behavioral program implementation (Required)

  • Knowledge of the English language preferable (write, read, and speak) but not required.

  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 standard, and internal auditor certificate preferable but not required.
