Assigned to a programme organisation, reporting to the Business Manager, the Security Controller is responsible to co-ordinate security clearance applications and aftercare for the project team. Acts as a point contact for all personnel security matters including: liaising with DBS/DS and/or umbrella organisations, liaising with NSV, liaising with IVCO, handling equivalence applications, etc.

Essential Job Duties

Administration of Bechtel personnel security records.

Co-ordination of Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks for new hire / existing employees transferring into the programme.

Co-ordination of NSV applications for SC and DV clearances as well as aftercare and renewal procedures.

Co-ordination of applications for equivalence clearances for already cleared foreign national employees; including co-ordination with IVCO.

Maintain oversight of Bechtel UK-wide Security Clearances status.

Develops all security-related programme procedures.

Liaise with Client security staff regarding any security issue or requirement and/or issues pertaining to the project.

Works based in one of the Bechtel UK office centres, but able to travel frequently to different programme job-sites and offices countrywide.

Basic Qualifications

The applicant will most likely already have a background working as a Security Controller in a Government Department, Defence Contractor or, for example, a Civil Nuclear Operator.

Able to work in an integrated team environment as well as remotely.

A good communicator able to;

  • provide coaching assistance to personnel undertaking clearance applications
  • represent Bechtel with supply chain involved in design and construction activities
  • represent Bechtel with suppliers involved in provision of security related services (umbrella organisations etc)
  • represent Bechtel with UK Regulators
  • represent Bechtel with Client Security managers

It would be beneficial if the applicant also has familiarity with any/all of the following;

  • facility security clearance procedure relevant to obtaining/maintaining List X and List N status
  • information security practices
  • physical security

Minimum Qualifications

The applicant must be a UK national and hold SC Clearance.

The applicant will have a background in Personnel Security Management and will be fully familiar with security processes mandated by HM Government.
