Job Summary:
In this role, you will coordinate the development of design drawings and calculations for the formwork necessary for heavy mass concrete, custom curved formwork, and formwork supports. You will forecast workforce and equipment needs and develop schedules and reporting. You will resolve interference issues to ensure scaffolding and formwork activities are safe, compliant, and meet project requirements. #LI-SM2
Major Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the formulation and upkeep of Scaffold and Formwork policies and procedures.
- Interprets Scaffold and Formwork design drawings as needed.
- Reviews Scaffold and Formwork design drawings, vendor drawings, and installation instructions, identifying potential interference issues.
- Develops projections and schedules for workforce, material, and equipment requirements.
- Collaborates in the creation of design drawings and calculations for formwork needed for heavy mass concrete, custom curved formwork, and formwork supports for heavy embedded items.
- Contributes to the design development of stair towers, elevated access platforms, and walkways necessary for construction activities.
- Prepares various reports, including a summary of Scaffold and Formwork progress and forecasts for Scaffold and Formwork-related expenditures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Scaffolding Systems & Regulations
- Proficient understanding of various scaffolding systems (e.g., frame, system scaffold, tube and clamp).
- Familiarity with industry standards (OSHA, ANSI) and local regulations for design, erection, and safety compliance.
Coordination & Scheduling
- Skill in planning, scheduling, and sequencing scaffold erection, modification, and dismantling to meet project milestones.
- Ability to align scaffold needs with other ongoing trades, ensuring minimal disruption and efficient workflow.
Documentation & Reporting
- Competence in maintaining scaffold records (e.g., scaffold tags, inspection forms, usage logs).
- Ability to generate regular reports on scaffold utilization, availability, and safety compliance for site management.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with site management, superintendents, and scaffold crews to manage daily activities and resolve any conflicts.
- Clear and timely communication to relay scaffold requirements, schedules, and safety measures to all stakeholders.
Safety & Quality Assurance
- Commitment to a zero-accident philosophy; ability to conduct or coordinate scaffold inspections, safety briefings, and hazard assessments.
- Familiarity with standard quality procedures and the ability to ensure scaffold installations meet project specifications.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability
- Capable of adjusting scaffold plans on short notice when project conditions change.
- Quick to diagnose and address scaffold-related challenges (e.g., limited space, special access requirements, unexpected design changes).
Basic Technical Aptitude
- Understanding of load capacities and engineering principles related to scaffold design.
- Comfortable with basic computer tools or project software for scheduling and tracking scaffold usage.
