Project Overview:
Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:
- The Project Information and Innovation Manager (PIIM) is at the core of Bechtel’s data centric delivery model and is responsible for understanding the relevant stakeholder information required to deliver the Project and identifying how these outputs will be met through information tools.
- Provide directions over Document Controllers, Project IS&T, Project EPC Automation, and Project Analytics.
- The PIIM also liaises with both internal and external key stakeholders, including developing the information and document management requirements that will be flowed down to 3rd Party engineering consultants and/or construction firms.
- The PIIM develops and implements the Information Management Plan and corresponding System and Data Integration, Document Management, and 3D Design and Construction Execution Plans in accordance with Bechtel standards, Project functional needs, and client information requirements to describe the way in which the Project will achieve data centric delivery successfully.
- The position is responsible to provide cross-functional coordination and methods of integration including, but not limited to, 3D Model Development, 4D Integrated Schedule, Common Data Environment (CDE) alignment, 5D Integrated Cost, document management, IS&T, and drive an innovative culture on Project. #LI-MJ1
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide operational direction to other information team members including Document Controllers, IS&T lead(s), EPC Automation, Project Analytics
- Coordinate closely with Engineering to ensure alignment and integration with BIM requirements, including the BIM Lead(s) at 3rd Party engineering consultants and/or construction firms
- Ensure the Information Management Plan and corresponding Execution Plans are aligned and executed in alignment with the Project Execution Plan (PEP)
- Work closely with the functional teams to understand life-cycle information requirements (both graphical and non-graphical) and align the Information Management Plan to meet those needs
- Assign the key roles on the Project identified in the Information Management Plan
- Ensure the implementation of the Project Information Model for use across each stage of the Project:
- Ensure the Project Information Model meets the client information requirements, Bechtel information requirements, and industry wide standards
- Ensure the IS&T Project automation plan aligns to the Project Information Model
- Review Functional Project Procedures to ensure alignment with the Project Information Management Plan
- Ensure adequate training is provided on the use of the Project Information Model and associated tools and processes (CDE, 4D, 5D, etc) to assist its deployment, including engagement with off-Project subject matter experts
- Conduct regular assessments to review the implementation of the Information Management Plan and to seek opportunities for improvement
- Maintain continuous contact with key functional leads on the Project including the Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Contracts, Construction, Start-Up, Commissioning, and Operation Maintenance Managers to monitor the implementation of information tools
- Coordinate with Project Controls and Construction ensuring the continuity and appropriate level of detail is produced to support each of the Project phases
- Review the Procurement and Contracts tender documents used for the supply chain to ensure information capabilities are assessed and aligned to the Project Information Model
- Ensure the implementation of the Common Data Environment (CDE), including relevant standards on its use and application across the Project:
- Ensure the Electronic Document Management System, Aconex, is configured and managed to support the needs of the project
- Provide direction to EPC Automation and Project IS&T on the deployment of automation tools, identifying user groups, and ensuring the integration of the various software tools through the CDE
- Receive and understand the client information requirements and coordinates with Project functional teams to develop the Project Delivery Matrix, including key coding structures such as Work Breakdown and asset classification codes, in alignment with client requirements and other Project stakeholders
- Liaise with client stakeholders to exchange and ensure information requirements are met
- Provide input into the design requirements including the level of detail and data attributes required to support the required outputs through the phases of the Project
- Champion innovation across the Project by establishing a culture for ideas and improvement opportunities to be raised, considered, and implemented. Continually seek ways in which the Project Information Model can be utilized to support the Project and drive efficiency in processes.
- Liaise with GBU and Corporate Innovation teams on the development and deployment of new initiatives and technologies
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Recognized degree in relevant field (i.e. engineering, construction, project management, business, information management) with 13+ years of experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Significant experience working within the EPC functions or a strong Project-led understanding of cross-functional EPC work processes and the applications used for Project execution with a passion for implementing new and innovative work processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization
- Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority
- Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/supervising a team
- Good understanding of configuration management and application integration requirements to enable cross-functional data integration
