Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.  The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s mechanical aspects are met. 

Major Responsibilities:

• In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for the project and it’s supporting infrastructure.
• For select areas of the project, you will be responsible for design progress and measurement, participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates.
• Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Level 2

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Level 1

• Experience with Bid Evaluate Award processes, and contractor management for multi-discipline design and supply packages 
  Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software
• Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks and proven experience working in a dynamic multi-discipline team environment
  Able to use judgement to manage and resolve contract package issues with minimal supervision, however can recognise when to escalate when required
• Analytical problem-solving capabilities 
• Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication
• Ability to communicate in Chinese (Mandarin) is desirable
• Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Level 2

• Knowledge of systems for engineering work planning and control methods.
• Experience in the design and specification of process and bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects.
• Experience with Bid Evaluate Award processes  and contractor management for multi-discipline design and supply packages
• Computer skills including competence in MS Office suite and other common software
• Flexibility and enthusiasm for individual and team tasks and proven experience working in a dynamic multi-discipline team environment
