Project Overview:
The Salt River Pumped Storage Project is located near the Theodore Roosevelt Lake, outside of Phoenix, Arizona and is proposes to create 2000 MW of energy. The project begins with a FEED study and advancement of the design. The project will utilize pump turbines to generate the energy. The project consists of a lower existing Apache reservoir formed by Horse Mesa dam which will be used as the source of the water. The upper reservoir will be a 15,000 acre-foot new reservoir created on the upper plateau. The reservoirs and powerhouse will be connected by two tunnel systems.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will report to the Project Manager supporting the development of a FEED for a prospective Pumped Storage Hydro (PSH) project in Arizona which is identified as the LNTP Phase per the customer. You will liaise between engineering, project controls, supply chain and other members of the project team, providing feedback on constructability, schedule development, generation of project procedures, and other tasks as assigned. You will support the FEED and will need to travel to Phoenix, AZ (or nearby adjacent community) weekly or bi-weekly on a regular basis to meet with other project team members. Relocation to Phoenix area maybe required. #LI-SP1
Major Responsibilities:
- Planning / Productivity / Coordination
- Coordinate and support on construction planning activities, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, customer and customer representatives, through the LNTP phase.
- Support resource planning, including professional staff and construction craft professionals
- In conjunction with project controls, engineering, procurement and sub-contracts, support the development of construction schedules, to include means and methods reviews, and material and equipment selection requirements.
- Supports development of the project execution plan in coordination with all functions
- Supports development of the construction execution plan providing input on labor, equipment, material and services and direct and indirect activities.
- Leads in project coordination and actions tracking across functions, including involvement in Critical Items Action Report (CIAR), requirements management and risk management.
- Support in staffing management and the utilization of off-project team members
- Coordination and engagement with customer, including communications directly with senior customer representatives.
- Drafting and reviewing project plans for a variety of different functions to ensure planned construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications, contracts, and purchase orders to support the development of the project.
- Support to ensure work is completed on time and within established quality and safety standards.
- Working with Bechtel's ES&H function regarding Policies and Procedures, in addition to sustainability requirements are incorporated into the project's plan and execution methodology.
- Working with the Quality function, establishes the appropriate project Quality Policies.
- Leverage Bechtel SME’s and, when required, industry experts.
- Ensures corporate policies and procedures are part of the execution plan.
- Coordinates with CSU as needed for developing the project startup activities.
- Support in identifying and understanding the appropriate required permits and licenses needed to support the project, from the planning phase through early works, construction to project start-up requirements.
Tools, Materials & Equipment
- Works with supply chain to develop contracts and purchase orders to support the development of the proposals.
- Supports the development of the Construction Equipment Schedule, planning for equipment, tool and commodity usage as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Project-based experience, including EPC projects in a construction, project controls and/or engineering role, ideally with experience in the following:
- Construction execution planning.
- Cast in place and precast concrete.
- Mass earthworks.
- On shore and offshore piling.
- Marine work.
- Retaining walls.
- Project mobilization setup including infrastructure, utilities and facilities (quarry and batch plant setup a plus).
- Experience working on bid teams and developing construction estimates preferable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. ·
- Ability to work well within a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a Joint Venture partner.
- Knowledge of the Bechtel Core Processes and how to apply them.
