Project Overview:
Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and manage the payable function for multiple projects. You will establish administrative controls, support audits, and develop process improvement solutions. You will manage periodic project calls and interface with key partners in Procurement and Project Controls. As a subject matter expert, you will ensure the utmost accuracy and compliance of the payables process.
Major Responsibilities:
General Accounting:
- Ensure accuracy and compliance for the project set of books, including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and detailed job cost and commitment ledgers, in coordination with the Project Accounting Manager.
- Assist Project Controls in analysis of financial information, cost estimates, preparation of forecasts and ad-hoc reporting as required by Project/GBU Management and the Client.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with Client counterparts in support of the Project goals.
- Work with Corporate Tax Team on proper application of sales & use tax
- Develops and implements process improvement solutions with management.
- Mentor and develop of Site Finance Team members.
Client Billing Support:
- Ensure accuracy and compliance regarding the project’s employee expense reports to ensure proper charging, account coding, supporting documentation and further billing to the client.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of unbilled cost transactions to ensure that all costs are billed timely and accurately and that all transactions are properly categorized.
- Coordination with the Services Center Billing Organization to ensure accurate and timely client invoicing.
- Coordination with Project Management, Project Controls, and other project organizations impacting the billing process.
Accounts Payable Support:
- Oversight of project accounts payable activities to ensure on-time payments to suppliers and compliance with project purchase order and subcontract requirements.
- Coordination with the Service Center Accounts Payable Organization to ensure accurate and timely processing and payment of project supplier/subcontract invoices.
- Coordination with Project Management, Procurement, Project Controls and other project organizations impacting the AP process.
- Communication with project suppliers as necessary to ensure accurate and timely invoicing to the project and payment to the supplier.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of organizational structure, policies and procedures.
- Experience and proficiency in standard accounting functions such as payroll, payables, receivables, billing and financial accounting. Highly skilled in analyzing and problem-solving techniques as applied to accounting.
- Excellent skills in working with and communicating effectively orally and in writing with internal and external personnel.
- Experience in supervisory activities such as distribution and control of work, performance evaluation, coaching, interviewing, and training and development of personnel.
- Very proficient in computer applications and common software products. Able to develop complex spreadsheets with complex formulas, macros and ad hoc report writing.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial issues including an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, and techniques.
- Good Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively function in a matrix organization and manage complex high-volume activities.
- Requires working knowledge of computer systems operations as applied to accounting functions at larger projects.
- Ability to analyze financial data, provide early recognition of potential problems and provide effective and innovative thought processes in handling complex financial issues/problems.
