Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets. M&T strives to exceed our customer objectives through utilizing our agility, innovative technologies, and world class talent. M&T solves the industry's toughest challenges, building both our company and the world for the future. Our team is building on Bechtel's legacy with a prospective semiconductor project. Pending award, Bechtel will serve as the Owner Representative for this confidential client located in New York#LI-Onsite 

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will oversee the development and preparation of project master purchasing commercial pro-forma forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions. You will lead the development of purchasing procedures, planning, and forecasting of purchasing staff. You will direct negotiations, solve problems, and communicate with suppliers to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements and achieve the required service to meet project needs.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • By reviewing the prime contract requirements, oversees the development and preparation of project master purchases pro-forma forms, including legal and commercial terms and conditions to be included in purchase documents on project commitments 
  • Supervises the preparation and maintenance of project bidder’s lists, ensuring input is received from all procurement functions and other operational groups 
  • Reviews project commercial conditions of purchasing to ensure purchasing pro-forma terms, conditions and procedures are compatible with applicable Bechtel Directives, Instructions and Procurement Procedures 
  • Reviews bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approves selection of suppliers within delegated approval authority. 
  • Directs negotiations in the commitment of purchases, following review and approval of the proposed negotiating plan by the designated supervisor 
  • Supervises assigned personnel in the orderly performance and completion of project procurement commitments through the several steps of bidding, evaluation, and award, in accordance with established policies and procurement procedures, in the Procurement administration functions of identified project purchases to ensure, in conjunction with other functional departments, performance of each order in accordance with the contracted terms and conditions and project requirements.
  • Indoctrinates newly assigned Purchasing personnel to the requirements and procedures of the corporate, global business unit, project, and client. Ensure they receive appropriate training and development

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in procurement processes.
  • Effective Time Management & Organizational Skills
  • Semiconductor experience is preferred, but not required
