Position Overview

A number of ongoing and planned projects will require nuclear engineers to support a variety of DOE and Commercial nuclear projects. 


The various Nuclear Engineering tasks demand detail-oriented individuals with multifaceted skills, particularly in-depth technical expertise, flexibility, enthusiasm for individual and team tasks, and analytical problem-solving capabilities.  As a Nuclear Engineer, you will work in multidisciplinary teams and provide expertise in the development of nuclear systems, conduct accident analyses, prepare safety analyses, and provide licensing support to for the associated projects. 


The total number of hires and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on the project needs, and may include working from home, Reston, Hanford, WA, Oak Ridge TN and other project sites.




The Nuclear Engineer l position will allow you to perform assignments that will develop professional working knowledge and abilities through the application of applicable codes and standards, as well as engineering calculations and techniques, procedures and criteria. You will exercise limited, but increasing, judgment in performing your assigned duties using methods prescribed by your supervisor.


Typical Activities of the Nuclear Engineering Team


  • Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard nuclear engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records
  • Develops calculations associated with nuclear facilities
  • Coordinates development and presentation of material for regulators
  • Provides direct support to other engineering disciplines for nuclear related matters
  • May assist in nuclear licensing evaluations, hazards evaluations, and developing and maintaining licensing and safety basis documents


Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field at an accredited college or university
  • Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering at an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of graduation date
  • Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA
  • Prior co-op or internship experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Level One:

  • Minimum 1+ Years of Relevant Work Experience including internships and or research related activities
  • In lieu of a degree, 6 years’ experience in nuclear, military or related technical experience


Level Two:

  • Minimum 3+ Years of Relevant Work Experience
  • Prior experience in nuclear, military or related technical experience
  • Prior experience in leadership roles, experience writing and performing technical procedures
