Job Summary:

In this role, you will support material planning and/or material coordination for a small to medium project site. Planning activities will include clear identification of required materials, and details for how they will be stored and shipped. Coordination activities will include reporting of material work package statuses for installation. Your efforts will support adequate and accurate materials and equipment at the jobsite. We currently have position available in Madison Co, KY. Potential project locations include Oak Ridge, TN; Richland, WA; Cape Canaveral, FL and Knoxville, TN. Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists with material coordination activities for a material discipline area of responsibility.
  • Adheres to the Materials Management Plan with respect to applicable commodity groups, within area of responsibility.
  • Ensures adherence to the Material Responsibility Matrix by all responsible parties.
  • Utilizes the materials components of the project Automation Plan (used by functional groups) to monitor related data transfers between the functional groups.
  • Adheres to the planned activities and work packaging structure on the project through coordination with Field Engineering, Systemization, Operations and/or (Sub) Contractors, and Project Controls.
  • Monitors planned inventory control mechanisms, such as min-max and bag-and-tag, and uses BPS tools.
  • Provides early identification of unneeded surplus materials in an effort to return to inventory or identify for excess or new requirements.
  • Coordinates material availability in support of design revisions, rework, contingency or work-around plans.
  • Participates in Systemization, Operations and/or (Sub) Contractor planning meetings to be fully aware of changes in installation plans and priorities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Level 1: Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Level 2: Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
  • Proficient in organizing tasks for completion by an agreed deadline.
  • Knowledge of project Procurement operations related to the acquisition of materials on projects, or of the Engineering discipline within the area of responsibility, the work process, and the deliverables produced (must have a basic knowledge of the other).
  • Knowledge of vendor, fabricator, contractor, Customer and other outside data systems and how those systems interact with BPS.
  • Knowledge of work packaging, pre-buy methodology, and materials status reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of materials related construction Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) as they relate to Field Procurement, Materials Management and Field Engineering.
  • Skilled in the use of BPS, including the Look Ahead Viewer allocation, use of the Lead time manager and specialized materials management reports.
  • Knowledge of Project BSAPs and their modes of data interfacing with BPS and each other.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard office productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and including simple table, query, report and macro design. Basic knowledge of Structured Query Language
  • Independently utilizes the materials components of the project Automation Plan (used by functional groups) to monitor related data transfers between the functional groups.
  • Knowledgeable of vendor, fabricator and/or contractor systems and how those systems interact with BPS.
  • Experienced with independently analyzing field material tracking issues and reporting results.
