Project Overview:

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets. M&T strives to exceed our customer objectives through utilizing our agility, innovative technologies, and world class talent. M&T solves the industry's toughest challenges, building both our company and the world for the future. Our team is building on Bechtel's legacy with a prospective semiconductor project. Pending award, Bechtel will serve as the Owner Representative for this confidential client located in New York.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and review plant design and piping work on large projects having specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved. #LI-MJ1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews plant design and piping engineering work on a large to medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
  • Develops conceptual designs for plant design and piping projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance. Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.
  • Mentors plant design and piping personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Prior experience acting as Owner Representative (OR) on a large-scale project.
  • Prior experience in space management, piping layout and design experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience supervising a group of Plant Design and Piping designers and engineers.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) where required.
  • Assist field team with design, code interpretation, clarification & queries.
  • Previous Bechtel project experience.
  • Familiar with Bechtel Engineering procedures and administrative practices.
