Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.  #LI-SM2

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • On a medium to large (PFE Tier I - <$250m) job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section. 

Leadership/Supervision 

  • Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback 
  • Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.  

Work Planning & Packaging 

  • Coordinates with design on constructability issues.  

Material Management 

  • Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.  

Quantities 

  • Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.  

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

System Turnover Coordinator 

For Direct Hire: 

  • Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE. 

STR / Subcontract Coordinator 

  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans. 
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Technical Expertise & Material Knowledge

Demonstrates a solid understanding of concrete properties, proper mix designs, reinforcement requirements, and industry standards (e.g., ACI) to ensure durable, high-quality installations.

Design Interpretation & Documentation

Reviews and interprets engineering drawings and specifications, confirming that formwork, rebar layout, and concrete placement meet design intent. Documents any field adjustments in coordination with the design team.

Quality Control & Testing Procedures

Oversees or conducts tests (e.g., slump, temperature, air content, compressive strength) and meticulously records results, ensuring immediate resolution of any discrepancies or non-conformances.

Field Inspection & Compliance

Performs regular site inspections to verify adherence to project requirements and applicable codes, flagging potential issues early and driving corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.

Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement

Troubleshoots installation problems, consults with QA/QC and design teams to develop corrective measures, and integrates lessons learned into future work practices.

Safety & Collaboration

  • Upholds strict safety protocols, collaborating closely with superintendents, subcontractors, and other field engineers to maintain a safe working environment while ensuring high-quality concrete installations.
