Position Summary

Bechtel is looking for an EcoSys / EPCM Services Engineer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Adelaide This role is responsible for the EcoSys cost management system plus EPCM services which involves the update of the project staffing plan, costing and reporting thereof. Supports project organizational and administrative activities. Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering problems. Provides generally non-routine cost engineering guidance to projects. Ensures work is completed as scheduled. Identifies cost trends for management attention. May review invoices for correct collection of revenue.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides comments and recommendations for cost engineering requirements relative to staffing and project control. Prepares detailed staffing plans for project activities.
  • Responsible for the project cost management system (EcoSys)
  • Prepares Project Controls plans and detailed internal manpower utilization plans for discipline or specialty activities.
  • Assists in preparing cost data for proposals or contract negotiations.
  • Participates in developing and presenting training classes on designated subjects and on-the-job training programs.
  • Determines scope definition requirements for a discipline or other specialty, and works with Engineering and other sources to coordinate the production of required data to conform to the overall estimate preparation plan. 
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs preparation of specific budgets. Assists in developing requirements for budgeting standards.
  • Develops and implements requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports. Performs performance monitoring and control functions.
  • Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions. This includes training in the proper use of and definitions for the cost accounts.
  • Investigates requirements for estimating and/or cost control data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
  • Identifies or defines data sources and techniques for data acquisition, and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
  • Creates and implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies improvements.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in the use of Ecosys or other similar cost management systems.
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis, in the field and the home office.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present cost engineering and cost estimating products. This includes planning and scheduling products independently with minimal supervision using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills and engineering design and construction practices.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Relevant recognized Diploma, Degree or Professional Certification
  • Completion of applicable project controls, business administration, legal, accounting, and/or related subjects training
  • Experience in the managing and / or supervising of personnel; including defining tasks, making work assignments, evaluating performance, and improving performance
