Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.  #LI-MJ1

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews design work within a medium-size PD&P design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit.
  • Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of site layouts, equipment and structures, complex piping networks.
  • Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&P engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Develops Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
  • Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
  • Reviews and approves key PD&P engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Mentors PD&P designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive knowledge and experience related to Plant Design & Piping conceptual layouts (space coordination) of equipment and piping complex routings for a large industrial manufacturing facilities (fabs or data centers).
  • Expert level knowledge of interfaces with equipment and for specialty piping arrangements of an industrial semiconductor manufacturing facilities (fab or data center).
  • Prefer expert level knowledge and understanding of pipe support systems for specialty piping of fab building or data center.
  • Willingness to travel on business trips in support of projects.
  • Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
