The Bechtel renewables team will perform project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup for utility-scale photovoltaic generating plants throughout various locations in the US.

 

Location

This position will start in Richmond, TX on a short-term assignment. In addition to meeting all the Essential Job Duties and Job Knowledge, the ideal candidate should be adaptable and able to relocate to project sites throughout the US.  

 

Position Summary

The Deputy Site Superintendent is responsible for supporting the Site Superintendent as well as the Site Manager in all aspects of construction operations including subcontractor work on the project. Supervises and directs professional staff, craft professionals and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project. Implements the project ES&H program and is a champion for the Zero Accident Program.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a training program to ensure jobsite personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Establish project procedures and ensure that Bechtel Core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with.
  • Schedule work to be performed, supervise in-process activities, and review work accomplished.
  • Coordinates field activities with other functions and disciplines.
  • Work with project controls to gain a full understanding of the cost components to help establish the method for tracking progress and performance in the field. 
  • Ensuring all construction operations are in compliance with quality standards and that all jobsite activities are completed on schedule in accordance with the approved plan.
  • Coordinate with discipline superintendents to develop area construction work activities and plans. 
  • Lead the preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead and four-week rolling schedule and budget control with support from Field Engineering and Project Controls.  Provide input to Field Engineering for quantity tracking application.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.  Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel. 
  • Maintains a positive relationship with the owner, subcontractor and an effective relationship with the home office and other functional teams
  • Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in relevant technical discipline and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience or 9-13 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program. 
  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs.  
  • Intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of subcontract formation and administration.
