Job Summary:

The Construction Coordinator (Lead CC) will be responsible for the home office construction coordination and field coordination on Power Generation, Renewables, power distribution and power transmission projects. Responsible to support project proposals, construction indirect planning, construction planning, constructability reviews, safety in design, value engineering, providing construction’s input to engineering and procurement teams aiming to improve Total Installed Cost (TIC) on the projects, inputs to maximizing modularization and preassemblies. Advise engineering of latest construction technology, local practices/preferences to optimize cost, schedule, and overall project delivery. Support construction management activities such as preconstruction planning, execution strategies on large industrial projects, process plants and various infrastructure projects.

The CC serves as a vital link between Construction and other project functions like Project Development, Engineering, Procurement, Contracts and Project Controls; the CC ensures that Construction requirements are communicated to the project team and project team receives Construction’s input in a timely manner.

    • Receives technical and operational supervision from Chief Construction Engineer or India Office Manager of Construction or designee.

    • Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate construction engineers if assigned.

    • Interface with the Project Development team, Engineering design functional group, Supply Chain, Project Controls, Quality Assurance, and project Estimation and Project Proposal teams
    • Jobsite contacts are with Site Manager, Project Field Engineer, Field Engineers/Superintendents, and other support disciplines.
    • Construction teams of joint venture partners, customer representatives


Major Responsibilities:

  • Implement constructability program and provide constructability plan to project members on assigned Power Generation, Renewables, power distribution and power transmission projects, in collaboration with project and GBU construction teams.
  • Representing Construction in in design reviews, project progress review meetings 
  • Lead and conduct constructability workshops on the project.
  • Develop constructability concepts, prepare project specific constructability program, and provide guidance to the design efforts during early phase of the project.
  • Participate in project development phase, prepare construction execution plans, enabling works plan, in directs plan and take-off, prepare construction resource curves.
  • Participate in review and selection of subcontractors, vendors and other third-party service providers
  • Participate in design development and suggest economical construction details for incorporation into the design and specifications by utilizing Construction Lessons Learned from other projects and best practices.
  • Implement “Design for Safe Construction”, support construction productivity initiatives on the project, including effective implementation of datacentric construction and other work processes.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to ensure Engineering deliverables are issued to support the construction schedule.
  • Identify potential problem areas or trends, develop total installed cost estimates and address continues improvement issues.
  • Coordinate constructability issues of vendor drawings, shop fabrication details, construction procedures.
  • Review design and suggest preassembly and modularization ideas
  • Maintain effective interface between customer team, construction teams at other Bechtel offices and jobsites ensuring construction knowledge, lessons learned, construction initiatives are effectively communicated.
  • Monitor completeness of engineering data in construction applications
  • Understand and implement work breakdown structure, work packaging philosophy. Scoping and preparation of Installation work packages, Test Packages, material take-off.
  • Review project proposals and assist project development team and estimation team with construction input on construction schedule, construction job hours, construction resources, modularization & preassembly suggestions.
  • Support automation development programs related to construction. 


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 26: Typically requires bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or international equivalent) along with minimum 15 years of relevant experience, or 20 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.Performs duties with considerable latitude, exercising independent judgment and utilizing construction knowledge and experience in resolution of moderately complex questions and problems which may arise.
  • Grade 27: Typically requires bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or international equivalent) along with minimum 20 years of relevant experience, or 25 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.Performs duties under minimal direction by management.  Develops and applies construction procedures which may be unique and innovative in nature to resolve complex and difficult problems which may arise.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven construction experience on large high voltage substations, distribution and transmission lines, process plant and other industrial projects.
  • Experience in electrical and civil installation on electrical network distribution projects is mandatory.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership experience on domestic and international projects.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with multiple nationalities.
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to the discipline interfacing with all areas
  • Prior experience working in a field engineering or field supervision position in an organization supporting direct-hire work /subcontract is highly preferred.
  • PMC experience
  • Proficient in reading drawings, interpret design, specifications and industry standards and codes.
  • Prior experience in project early works, temporary construction facilities development, site set-up.
  • Prior experience with using tools and software’s related to construction planning, proposals, execution, and monitoring is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to international job sites on short-term or long-term assignments.
  • Effective communication skills
