Bechtel has been awarded the role of Project Management Consultant (PMC) acting on behalf of the owner Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) to manage Outotec and Larsen & Toubro Consortium who have been awarded an Engineering Procurement Construction contract (EPC). The EPC scope is as follows: Engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up assistance of the Mansoura & Mansarrah (MMGP) Gold project.


MMGP Project will become Ma’aden’s largest gold project. Producing an average of 250,000 ounces of gold per year over the life of the mine. Mansourah-Massarah is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region (CAGR), approximately 320km N/E of Taif towards Riyadh and about 35km S/E of Hufairah a small village situated on the Jeddah-Riyadh highway.



Bechtel ias looking for an Area Planner for the Mining & Metals PMC team, based in Saudi Arabia (Camp).  The Area Planner will function primarily in an audit, analysis and advisory capacity working with the EPC Works Contractors. Supports project organizational and administrative activities when delegated. Supervises planning/scheduling activities when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled.



A. Supervision Received

  • Reports to and receives technical guidance and operational supervision from Field Lead Planner and Project Controls Manager.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • None expected.  Potentially provides technical and operational direction to assigned personnel.

C. Contacts

  • Maintains relationships with PMC project personnel, key Works Contractor personnel, and client team



  1. Reviews and assists in the development of PMC project control plans as required.
  2. Reviews and provides comments on Works Contractors planning and scheduling procedures.
  3. Ascertains that the correct scope of work is reflected on all schedules.
  4. Performs detailed weekly review and analysis of EPC Works Contractor earned progress and quantity data.
  5. Provides analysis and desertion of project schedule status for project weekly and monthly progress reports.
  6. Reviews schedule data provided by EPC Works Contractors.  Identifies schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
  7. Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports.
  8. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule.
  9. Performs ad-hoc schedule analysis from time to time as requested by Field Lead Planner



Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.

Skilled in oral and written communication.

Proficiency in using PC operating systems and several basic software applications. Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used by Bechtel (e.g., Primavera, and Microsoft Office Suite).

Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.

Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
