Job Summary:
In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-SM2
Major Responsibilities:
On a medium sized job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Deputy Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section
Leadership/Supervision
- Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
- Supervises a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline.
Work Planning & Packaging
- Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
Material Management
- Directs the preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution, services, and equipment.
Quantities
- Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire:
- Possesses responsibility for coordinating between construction and startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the startup specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Supervises reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep Understanding of AWP Processes and Tools
- Full grasp of Construction Work Packages (CWPs), Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), and Installation Work Packages (IWPs)
- Familiarity with AWP maturity models and execution planning
- Experience using tools like ACC, SmartPlant, or Bentley ConstructSim, or internal software
- Understand how information flows from engineering to the field
- Awareness of how path-of-construction is sequenced in high-velocity environments like data centers
- Experience identifying and removing workface constraints
- Able to work with 3D models (Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D)
- Understand tagging, metadata, and attribute structure for digital handoffs
- Skilled in systems integration across P6, BIM 360, and procurement tracking
- Able to coordinate between engineering, procurement, and field supervision
- Experience facilitating weekly work planning meetings or constraint reviews
- Familiar with IWP release schedules and rule-of-credit systems
- Ability to coach superintendents and discipline leads on package structure and usage
- Skilled in aligning stakeholders during pre-installation and pull planning efforts
Qualification Criteria
- Past work on data centers, semiconductor fabs, hyperscale tech, or pharma projects managing CWP/IWP planning, AWP model execution plans, or tool implementation.
- Experience as a superintendent, planner, or field engineer that has credibility with craft, understand constraint realities, and speak fluently about installation workflows.
- Strong digital literacy across project platforms. Possess the ability to extract, manipulate, and push data through different systems (especially for IWP readiness and KPI dashboards)
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional planning efforts
- Involvement Experience in workface planning during startup/turnover phases.
