Project Overview:
This position is based in Sydney or Brisbane, Australia supporting the Infrastructure Estimating Team, it is considered Non-Project
Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide technical guidance to promote consistency across projects, customers, and business lines. You will provide detailed review and support to capital cost estimates, cash flow, working capital assessments, and to the preparation of estimate documentation. Your recommendations ensure accurate cost estimations and will be essential in driving project profitability and success.
Major Responsibilities:
Direct Disciplines & Distribs
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in the review of design scope criteria and quantity development for undefined scope assumptions in coordination with other stakeholders/departments
- Supports/reviews prediction/extrapolation of cost curves based on experience of scheduled activities and cost correlation analysis in area of responsibility
Services
- Provides guidance in pricing nonmanual costs and associated ODC’s
- Has a deep understanding of international pricing of non-manuals and associated ex-pat costs
- Supports in depth audits and analysis of proposals, change order, and other estimates
Overall
- Provides technical guidance to area of responsibility to promote consistency in approach and outcomes across projects, customers, and business lines; provides and leads discipline specific detailed support to capital cost estimates, cash flow, and working capital assessments; reviews and supports the preparation of estimate basis and assumption documentation in area of responsibility
- Supports complex/conducts basic conceptual/order of magnitude (OOM) estimates in area of responsibility
- Leads cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in specialized areas or in specialized discipline area; provides area of responsibility-specific guidance and direct support in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates
- Provides guidance and oversight in the Identification of risk items and assignment of risk levels to portions of the project work
- Prepares cost trend estimates in support of project cost trend programs; takes a lead role for area of responsibility in estimate reviews and presentations to project management and senior management
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 5-8 years of relevant experience; alternatively 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in an estimating or cost engineering role on large EPC, EPCM or Delivery Partner projects
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects. Experiences typically include major infrastructure projects in the renewables, heavy civil, or defence infrastructure fields
- Proficient in estimating applications used for discipline estimates and basic knowledge of general estimating systems currently being used by Bechtel (Microsoft Suite of Tools, Expert Estimator, HCSS, etc.)
- Previous estimating or project controls experience in the defence sector will be highly regarded
