Project Overview:

Job Summary:

The Medical Coordinator’s role is to support and oversee the medical services and contractors with regards to quality, compliance with Bechtel and AHJ standards and guidelines, case management, emergency response, inspections, and assessments. This position reports to the Project ES&H Manager or designee.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implements the project’s Medical Services Program, in coordination with other project functional groups and ES&H personnel, per Bechtel and contract requirements.
  • Support the mobilization, execution, start-up, and turnover of site health services/facilities.
  • Support the establishment of site clinics in conjunction with the CMHMS and the sub-contractor.
  • Review contractor risk assessments with regards to medical services.
  • Oversee and assist with the coordination of the medical emergency response in line with project requirements and minimum standards.
  • Oversee with the relevant contractors, the execution of medical services with regards to scope of work, quality assurance, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support case management of work-related injuries and illnesses with relevant stake holders as required.
  • Support incident investigations as required.
  • Monitor quality of patient care rendered to all employees on the project.
  • Consult regularly with key client stakeholders to ensure needs and expectations are defined and delivered in accordance with contracted service levels.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of applicable medical emergency response procedures and processes to ensure emergency service requirements are met.
  • Provide reports to the ES&H manager as required. Support project management team in implementing and complying with applicable project ES&H requirements and addressing health issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Provide technical support and assistance directly to supervision and subcontractors in planning and executing field activities in accordance with the project medical/emergency services requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of the wellbeing and mental health wellbeing programs as per Bechtel requirements.
  • Oversees the implementation of the Bechtel Muscular Skeletal Injury Prevention Program.
  • Conducts quarterly audits of all medical facilities across the project. Report on findings and monitor the subsequent action plan from findings.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in nursing from an accredited university or college and 5 or more years of relevant experience in occupation health and emergency nursing, and a valid license for the location assigned. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Clinic management in an occupational health setting
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in subcontracts management and oversight.
  • Developing and implementing well-being programs and mental health programs
  • Knowledge of the in-country workers compensation process
  • Conducting clinical and quality assessments on health services
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health Standards and Regulations;
  • Experience in supporting the implementation of mental health programs.
  • Additional Qualifications
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with physicians, other health professionals and health related agencies.
  • Works effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Promotes mutual respect and trust working within a team model.
  • Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
  • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
  • Valid medical license and/or certificates.
  • Valid driver’s license.
