Overview
Bechtel has a long tradition of technical and engineering excellence in supporting multiple industries. Bechtel's internship program was created to cultivate real-life industry interest based on hands-on experience. Many new university graduate hires began their careers at Bechtel as a student intern.
Cybersecurity Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to industrial control system cybersecurity ICS services to projects as part of the design or after design is complete.
The total number of interns and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on the project needs, and may include Houston, TX or Reston, VA, along with various project sites.
General Job Duties
Cybersecurity Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- assisting with control system network design development
- evaluating vendor cybersecurity products and writing evaluations results
- working with NIST-based and other standards to achieve cybersecurity work activities
- setting up and troubleshooting cybersecurity test configurations
- providing logic and Human Machine Interface programming for cybersecurity testing rigs
- assisting in providing patch management activities for the overall Technical Center
- providing status of ongoing design and development activities
- working on special projects like the ICS Trainer System and the ancillary work activities that support it
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mech Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electro-Mech Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA
- Prior co-op or internship experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
