Control Systems Engineering Interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to aspects of measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control. This includes performing the analysis, design, specifications, and startup support for all aspects of measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control.
The total number of interns and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs and may include Houston, TX or Reston, VA, along with various project sites.
General Job Duties
Control Systems Engineering interns may be responsible for:
- development of basic discipline system calculations and designs, such as short circuit and load-flow single line and 3-line drawings, schematics, transformer and cable sizing, and specifications for equipment where deviations from standard documentation is required
- producing basic and higher-tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope; and
- properly interpreting and applying codes and standards and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, and system descriptions related to design tasks
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in one of the above fields
- Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
- Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university
- Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA
- Prior co-op or internship experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
