Construction Automation teams at Bechtel provide valuable data management and analytics to senior construction and project management to aid in decision making, performance analysis, risk identification, project progress, resource allocation and more, as well as to streamline and automate our various processes and information flows.  As a Construction Automation Specialist at Bechtel, you'll have the opportunity to work with various disciplines and functional groups such as civil, electrical, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, welding, and quality engineers and construction personnel, accounting and project controls, contractors and subcontract coordinators, Information Technology, design teams, and senior management.


Typical Activities

  • Establishing and administering the suite of Construction Automation applications (BSAPs) on a project jobsite including but not limited to TEAMworks, WITS, Completions Module, Advanced Work Packaging, Setroute, Preservation and Maintenance Modules, Procurement System (BPS/DSC) interfaces, Measuring and Test Equpment, X-Fighters (Pipefighter, SteelSlayer et al…) and various other database, reporting, and information management systems as required


General Job Duties

  • Work with Project Field Engineer to establish the requirements for Construction Automation Systems
  • Establish the data requirements to support construction work processes
  • Coordinate with design engineering, procurement, project controls and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications.
  • Configure BSAPs to meet project requirements.
  • Understand reporting requirements for each application and configure reports accordingly.  Ensure reports are accurate reflections of the data and are functioning as intended.
  • Review/trouble-shoot data for accuracy and completeness. Identify and address anomalies and report to the PFE.
  • Provide ongoing administration to each BSAP
  • Provide training and technical support to BSAP end users, including field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls and other site personnel.
  • Interface with corporate BSAP administrators to change functionality or configuration of applications to meet project specific requirements.
  • Assist the Project Field Engineer and Lead Area Field Engineers by providing training, direction and support to TEAMWorks and Setroute administrators who are responsible for data entry and report generation.


Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering or Construction Management degrees with a minor in one of the above or similar.
  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
  • Basic knowledge of how to troubleshoot or support software applications



Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master of Science degree program in Construction Management or Construction Engineering at an accredited college or university
  • Previous experience with SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Oracle, Synchro, Information Modeling, Information Management, 3D Modeling, Building Information Modeling (BIM),
  • Data Integration and Reporting
  • Completed relevant coursework
  • Prior co-op or internship experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Practical work experience in a construction environment
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Fluency in multiple languages (preferably Spanish, Arabic, or French)
