Project Overview:
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services for a multi-billion dollar renewables and its infrastructure project in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region. This position will start as an assignment in Mumbai, India (office) and after the full notice to proceed from the Owner, the site specific position will eventually transition to the job site for the execution of the project.
Job Summary:
Assigned to the Project PMC group to work in Electrical Engineering discipline within project groups. Has a good knowledge of Electrical System and Physical designs related to Solar projects. Responsible for the review of project plans and specifications for design accuracy, constructability, conformance to regulatory agency requirements and productivity improvement.
Candidate should have exposure to Indian, US, Euro and other foreign codes/standards and local practices.
This position requires coordination activities with Design Consultant Package Managers to ensure the electrical design packages are completed per the schedule. Work location will in India office – Mumbai.
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria to prepare/review conceptual Studies, Systems study, Design criteria, Equipment Sizing calculations, layout engineering.
- Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinates electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Provides technical assistance and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
- Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Should have extensive knowledge of Solar Plants. Latest Trackers and Inverter Technologies.
- Hands on Experience of Electrical System Study tool DigSilent Power Factory. System Studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Harmonic Analysis, Transient Stability Studies), voltage drop calculations, single line diagram, protection & metering diagrams, relay setting & protection coordination of the system.
- Should have worked on equipment sizing, specifications, MR preparation, technical bid evaluation and vendor print reviews of various electrical equipment like IDT Transformers, Busducts, MV & LV
- Switchgears, Cables.
- Should be conversant with electrical layouts like raceways, grounding & lightning protection, etc.
- Previous experience as PMC is desirable.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Skill in oral and written communication, demonstrated skill in leadership.
