Project Overview:
Bechtel is seeking to work with a major Indian corporation to provide Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services for a multibillion-dollar renewables and its infrastructure project in India. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai, India.
Job Summary:
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for providing GIS support for a large scale, renewable solar energy project in alignment with the client’s GIS strategy. The role requires an in-depth understanding of how GIS technology can be leveraged to attain project objectives, and the ability to work across functions/disciplines to enable BIM/GIS use-cases. The position will report to GIS Manager and will require coordination with off-project GIS specialists in other Bechtel offices.
Major Responsibilities:
- Implement project Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and Asset Information Requirements (AIR) to meet project information delivery objectives and asset information handover requirements that align with the client’s GIS requirements and strategy.
- Implement and maintain the project GIS Management Plan to satisfy the project information requirements.
- Setup and configuration control of the project GIS system per project Exchange Information Requirements
- Develop technical approaches and methodologies for supporting cross-functional process improvement by developing process maps, information input/output requirements and execution plans for the required tasks
- Coordinate with the project GIS teams to develop end-user solutions, including needs analysis, requirements definition, application and database design, data models, application programming, quality control, user training, acceptance testing, and system rollout.
- Manage GIS and inter-operability with other BIM/CAD tools to maximize GIS value-proposition throughout the project life cycle
- Support field geo data collection, workflows and forms using survey 123, progress tracking using Drones/ Lidar
- Integrate data multiple sources accessible thru the GIS portal
- Use GIS data for reporting, dashboarding, and trending
- Use GIS solutions to enable project sustainability initiatives including developing story maps, stakeholder engagement
- Deploy GIS solutions, documenting workflows and user guides, and providing training
- Perform Quality Assurance Checks on projects to ensure supply chain deliverables meet GIS requirements
- Ensures the project meets the information requirements, and industry wide standards (i.e. ISO19650).
- Support the review each delivery team’s GIS Management Plan and Information Delivery Plans in accordance with the project EIR/AIR and the relevant Scope of Work.
- Develop work-process maps, data inputs and outputs to support application and data exchange requirements to support project digital workflows.
- Capture lessons learned and manage the implementation of improved workflows.
- Engage with Supply Chain to ensure contract flow-down requirement (EIR/AIR) and supply chain assessment forms part of the RFP/tender documents.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- M.A. or M.S. or degree in geography, computer science, engineering or related field with 5 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Integrating GIS tools with other engineering automation tools such as Infraworks, Civil3D, AutoCAD, OpenRoads and other Autodesk/Bentley integrated solutions.
- Developing and implementing GIS work processes and procedures.
- Using GIS and related applications such as ArcGIS suite, GlobalMapper, FME, Geographic Calculator, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Using and implementing GIS web services.
- Deploying web-based GIS and GIS On-Line solutions.
- Customizing and automating GIS tasks using scripting and programming.
- System administration of GIS and related software and training of GIS users.
- Geomatics, including GIS vector and raster analysis, cartographic principles, spatial systems administration, GIS database management, engineering surveying, GPS systems, photogrammetry, and automation/programming.
- Ability to resolve technical issues with other GIS specialists, other engineering disciplines, other functions, and the client.
- Excellent listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
