Project Overview

Pennsylvania Chemicals is a world-scale facility that will use ethane to produce 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene per year. The project will involve up to 6,000 workers during its construction and is expected to employ 600 permanent employees when completed. The ethylene / polyethylene complex will be located in the Ohio River Valley north of Pittsburgh. It comprises an ethane cracker and three polyethylene units, plus OSBL including a gas-fired combined cycle cogeneration unit and a large storage-in-transit rail yard.

Role Overview

Operating as part of the project Document Management team, the Site Document Management Technician will report to Document Management Supervisor and be responsible for maintaining and supporting document management work processes. Document handling will primarily be electronic, processing and exchange of documents to and from external parties using electronic file transfer medium (SharePoint). Utilizes the standard Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), InfoWorks®, to register, control, distribute, transmit, file and archive project records. Ensures project schedules are met with regard to processing documents. Assists in generating status reports, maintaining tracking logs and providing performance metrics for the management team. Supports all project functions in daily execution of project activities.


Candidate must possess basic knowledge and experience in:

•          Excellent written and oral communication skills - there will be a need to keep regular contact with project personnel

•          Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and procedures

•          Must possess and demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high energy, team environment.

•          Experience in training document control and administrative personnel including presentations and reports as needed

•          Experience of uploading and downloading documents from a file transfer medium. - Essential - (SharePoint - preferred).

•          Experience of entering documents into EDMS systems to include full version control and population of properties - InfoWorks (Documentum) - Preferred.

•          Experience of using the EDMS query system to support Client / project users in the use of the EDMS. - User support only - technical support provided on project.

•          Operating scanners with sufficient understanding such that a quality scan is obtained while minimizing file size. - Essential

•          Experience of Redline Mark-up processes —Essential.

•          Working to deadlines and managing time and workload. Flow of documents may fluctuate.

•          Able to work overtime when required.

•          Willingness to get involved with overall project document management activities where required. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

•          Field experience in working in and around construction job sites-Essential


Position Skills

•          Three-year document management/administrative experience is desired

•          Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, InfoWorks, or similar Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).

•          Demonstrates strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and to accuracy.

•          Ability to work on own initiative

•          Experience of reporting 

•          Sophisticated written and oral communication skills 

•          Must possess and demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high energy, team environment.

•          Ability to multi-task is essential

•          Should be dependable and adhere to work ethics
