EHT Pre-Comm Specialist

Project Overview

Pennsylvania Chemicals is a world-scale facility that will use Ethane to produce 1.6 million tonnes of polyethylene per year. The ethylene / polyethylene complex will be located in the Ohio River Valley north of Pittsburgh.  It comprises an ethane cracker and three polyethylene units, plus OSBL including a gas-fired combined cycle cogeneration unit and a large storage-in-transit rail yard.

 

Role Overview

The Electrical Heat Tracing (EHT) Pre-Commissioning Specialist will report to the Lead Pre-Comm Electrical Engineer and responsible to perform test, commissioning and energizing the electrical heat tracing skids and circuits within the project.

 

Role Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Complying with Bechtel’s and Client ES&H and Quality initiatives, always aiming for Zero Accidents and Zero Significant Quality Incidents.
  • Providing input to test and commissioning data base and applications
  • Participating in pre-commissioning forecasting and preparation activities as required
  • Testing EHT panels, configuring the controllers, testing the EHT sub-circuits and associated RTD loops
  • Planning day to day test and commissioning work for designated area, prepare test package and testing document as required.
  • Preparing and submits Precommissioning procedures, test sheet and work schedules as needed
  • Trouble-shooting the design, resolving issues with engineering and/or supplier using formal field documentation processes
  • Supervising testing crew, vendor representatives and subcontractor team to perform electrical testing activities safely and on-time
  • Coordinating pre-comm activities with other CSU disciplines, project engineering, construction, subcontractor staff, vendors and client
  • Completing and verifying quality documentation per test procedures, tracking the deficiencies and punch items
  • Apply management of change process to the pre-commissioning activities. This includes design changes, scope change, produce NCRs/RFIs/FCDs, redlines and associated rework and retesting coordination as per Project procedures.
  • Work hours as required, including shift-work, overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to support the project

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience. Recommended work experience 4-5 years
  • Demonstrated ability to follow/comply with safety procedures and LOTO program
  • Knowledge & experience of testing, commissioning & turnover practices
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Experience of testing heat trace panels and circuits is desirable
