Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for startup planning and activities on major projects. You will coordinate with project management, engineering, construction, and clients to leverage diverse technical team skills to integrate the startup plan. You will identify risks and trends, manage progress reporting, and proactively course correct to ensure goals, schedules, and requirements are met.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-MJ1
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement GBU-wide commissioning and startup strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee CSU planning and execution for all major projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead and mentor a team of commissioning and startup professionals, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, construction, and client teams to integrate CSU plans and resolve technical and operational challenges.
- Identify and manage CSU risks, trends, and lessons learned; proactively course correct to ensure goals and requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards during commissioning and startup.
- Oversee the development and execution of CSU schedules, resource plans, and progress reporting.
- Provide technical expertise and oversight for all CSU activities, including system testing, functional verification, and operational readiness reviews.
- Lead the development and implementation of training programs and best practices for CSU teams.
- Support proposal development, project planning, and stakeholder engagement related to CSU scope.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in CSU processes, tools, and technologies.
- Represent the GBU in corporate and industry forums related to commissioning and startup.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 15+ years of relevant experience in commissioning, startup, or operations for large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience leading CSU teams and managing CSU activities on complex industrial, manufacturing, or technology projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of commissioning processes, systems, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement CSU strategies, plans, and procedures.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business.
- Experience in a GBU or corporate-level CSU leadership role.
- Professional certifications in commissioning (e.g., Certified Commissioning Professional, PMP).
- Experience with digital tools and automation for CSU management and reporting.
- Track record of driving innovation and continuous improvement in CSU processes.
- Experience in the semiconductor, data center, electric vehicle, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for commissioning and startup.
