Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
The Office Field Engineer/Procedure Writer reports to the Project Field Engineer and/or Construction Manager. The position is responsible for writing, editing and proofreading construction documents that are part of deliverables to the Owner or project execution documents. The Office Field Engineer/Procedure Writer defines requirements and coordinates with Project Information Management Systems for development/use of construction automation tools and applications used during execution to collect data related to construction quantities, installation status, quality inspection metrics, etc. The Office Field Engineer/Procedure Writer will also be responsible for reviewing Bechtel procedures and core processes for compliance with Polish law and UDT requirements and will provide suggestions on how the procedures can be updated to more accurately reflect these requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support constructability reviews during the design process, part of the home office construction team.
- Review Bechtel core processes and procedures for compliance with UDT requirements and Polish law.
- Assist with development of construction procedures, plans, methodology statements, risk management plans, and strategy documents.
- Work with the design teams to ensure requirements are incorporated into the design, layout and specifications.
- Writing, editing, and proofreading moderate to complex documents and other print and electronic media.
- Planning the format of a document, organizing content, editing text and graphics, and providing instructions for final reproduction.
- Recommending and coordinating document formatting and graphics design, resolving editorial and/or content issues and providing additional editorial support.
- Editing or rewriting draft documents. Ensuring that the material is structured and formatted logically, and inconsistencies are resolved.
- Providing production data for performance metrics.
- Responsible for electronic file management, which may include access and configuration control.
- Maintaining document and resource files (photos and support matter). Maintaining the office style guide, as required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years of experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Must be Authorized to work in Poland.
- Applicants must have native-level proficiency in Polish.
- Must be able to obtain an office or site security badge.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Possesses proficiency with standard document formatting/editing/production software, including electronic comment incorporation, importing graphic files, formatting tables, and developing and applying templates.
- Possesses knowledge of UDT technical regulations for construction sites.
- Possesses basic knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology used by various Engineering disciplines and Construction.
- Possesses knowledge of standard editing/proofreading marks and online editing/proofreading skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of formatting, editing, grammatical, and writing styles
- Has strong interpersonal skills and a proven record as a team player with a high degree of flexibility.
- Good oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Skills in Microsoft® Office suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Continually demonstrates sustained commitment to Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” policy and support for Bechtel’s safety program through personal safe behaviour/work practices, following all safety rules and procedures, and reporting unsafe work practices/situations.
- Specific knowledge of a construction discipline (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical).
- Possesses current/prior experience with editing program-level documents under strict deadlines and tracking/maintaining department metrics.
- Demonstrates familiarity with a variety of project documents (e.g., plans, procedures, policies) and their review, comment resolution, and approval process.
