Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
The Lead Rigging Superintendent is assigned to the field construction organization in a supervisory capacity. This role is responsible for overseeing and directing all operations within the rigging discipline. The Lead Rigging Superintendent supervises, and coordinates craft personnel and subcontractor activities as assigned. This position ensures that all rigging operations and subcontractor performance meet project specifications and are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Major Responsibilities:
- May serve as Lead Rigging Superintendent, providing discipline supervision of superintendents
- Provides oversight & technical direction to subordinates and subcontractors.
- Coordinates with Superintendents and the Rigging Engineering Manager to validate manpower and personnel qualification requirements.
- Reviews weekly scheduled work plans with discipline superintendents to ensure the project has the rigging resources available with the proper qualifications to support the planned work scopes.
- Ensures that scheduling concerns and constraints are identified and elevated to the construction management team.

- Monitor installation work to verify conformance with drawings, specifications, and requirements
- Implement and uphold Bechtel’s Construction Quality Program
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to craft professionals, foremen, and subcontractor supervision
- Review and validate resource requirements
- Coordinate construction activities with other disciplines and subcontractors
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, and conflicts
- Ensure first time quality through proactive planning
- Participate in reviews of field changes, RFIs, design updates, and constructability considerations
- Support and verify subcontractor performance
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
- Nuclear or similarly regulated project experience (quality culture, procedural compliance).
- Experience with major crane types relevant to your scope (crawler, ring crane, luffing tower, gantry, etc.).
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience on a large EPC or Nuclear construction site.
- Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
- Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
- Competency in the planning of lift and transport operations
- Familiarity with applicable crane/rigging standards and local authority requirements (e.g., ASME B30 series/EN standards/local regulatory requirements).
- Knowledge of lifting equipment inspection regimes, colour coding/tagging systems, and certification requirements.
- Competency with working at height, lifting near power lines, weather limitations, and heavy lift contingency planning.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to read and interpret crane manufacturers operator’s manual and load charts Experienced in safe use and inspection of rigging hardware
- Ability to develop 3 week look ahead schedule in regard to crane operations Monitor and track utilization of all site cranes
- Ability to read/mark up drawings, basic lift calculation capability.
- Demonstrated history of leading teams with strong safety performance metrics.
