Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.


 

Job Summary:

Assigned to the Poland project as an Indirects Field Engineer, supporting Balance of Plant (BOP) and temporary infrastructure and utility systems. Ensures timely installation, effective coordination, and compliance across multiple disciplines.

Major Responsibilities:

•    Supports field construction Indirect Superintendents and craft professionals on the Poland project.
•    Implements construction processes for indirect site-services scope, including temporary offices, warehouses, laydown yards and shops, roads, parking areas, and overall site maintenance.
•    Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities; ensures completion of as-built drawings and other job plans.
•    Sources materials and equipment and issues field material requisitions in the Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS).
•    Prepares quantity takeoffs for field-purchased materials and equipment.
•    Verifies commodities in quantity-tracking systems and other required databases.
•    Coordinates with discipline superintendents to plan activities and meet project goals.
•    Tracks construction equipment and vehicles, including rentals, utilization, and maintenance.
•    Prepares inspection and test reports for construction activities (e.g., concrete placements, site backfill notifications, and excavation notices).
•    Ensures indirect work processes comply with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.
•    Ensures temporary facilities and structures meet project requirements and are properly maintained.
•    Provides input to operational plans that support construction execution.
•    Communicates clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs, which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site; climbing ladders; climbing scaffolding; using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE); walking on elevated platforms; walking on uneven surfaces; and manoeuvring around very small and/or confined spaces.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with EPC construction and/or commercial nuclear construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) and related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Self-starter; highly motivated; able to work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of current design codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASME) and NQA-1 requirements.
  • Familiarity with nuclear quality and commercial practice standards is desired.
  • Provides input to construction execution strategy and supporting engineering packages.
  • Communicates clearly and precisely with design engineers to support project reviews.
  • Working knowledge of BSAPs Construction Automation work processes.
  • Understanding of engineering deliverables and the ability to train others.
