Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

The Fleet/Equipment Manager is responsible for supervising and directing fleet and equipment maintenance & repairs ensuring compliance with specifications, schedule, and budget in accordance with project policies and procedures. Work includes field inspections, extensive walking in and around the site, managing the Equipment Maintenance Crew. The role ensures that equipment is available, functional, and used efficiently to meet project timelines and safety standards.  Some lifting may be required.

Major Responsibilities:

•    Perform all work safely with the utmost concern for the safety for self and other employees.
•    Ensure all safety procedures and processes are followed without deviation.
•    Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
•    Field implementation of work packages, work instructions, and procedures to support maintenance work activities for needed permits.
•    Monitor fleet usage, location, and condition throughout the project.
•    Manage preventive maintenance and repair program.
•    Identifies, plans, directs, and assists with repairs of fleet equipment.
•    Monitors work activities and ensure the quality of work performed.
•    Oversee equipment maintenance systems reporting and equipment records management.
•    Monitor the activities of proposed subcontractors or vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
•    Coordination, work closely with project managers, site service manager, and vendors to align equipment availability with construction phases. Monitors the activities of proposed subcontractors or vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a recognised degree in construction management, engineering, Industrial Technology, or business administration and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of Project Equipment Management experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Knowledge of the following equipment (or equivalents): Caterpillar Earthmoving Equipment, Demag, Liebherr, Manitowoc, Terex and Grove cranes, JLG, Gradall, IR forklifts, JLG and Grove Manlifts, along with Caterpillar, Cummins, and Perkins engines.
•    Understands equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and equipment fitness for use.
•    Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and or operating functions.
•    Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements. Ensures compliance with Bechtel’s core value of zero accidents and project safety goals.
•    Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management, work processes and procedures.
•    Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
•    Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
•    Knowledge in the use of subcontracts and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
•    Excellent customer relations and communication skills. 
•    Broad experience in vehicle/heavy equipment/specialty equipment (lifts, etc.) repair and tools management with demonstrated competency in overseeing fleet use and maintenance on industrial/commercial projects.
•    Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (i.e. DOT, OSHA, FMC).

More Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Understanding of equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and equipment fitness for use.
•    Knowledge of safety requirements and practices.
•    Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management, work processes and procedures.
•    Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
•    Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
•    Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
•    Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) from AEMP (Association of Equipment Management Professionals).
•    OSHA Safety Certification for field compliance.
•    Project Management Professional (PMP) for leadership in complex projects.
