Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations to reduce the potential for adverse impacts. You will perform risk assessments, provide input on bid decisions, lead meetings and communications, and track and monitor performance trends. Your recommendations will contribute to enhanced quality of safety procedures and work processes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Facilitates execution of the safety component of an EHS Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
 - Helps prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
 - Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups involving safety and health issues, risks, and techniques to reduce adverse impacts.
 - Interprets and integrates safety and health requirements in planning documents, risk assessment, and EHS program execution.
 - Research moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements, performs studies and risk assessments, and prepares documentation and reports.
 - Provides support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits.
 - Helps establish emergency preparedness and performs incident investigations.
 - Support EHS training
 - Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their concerns.
 - Participates in, or leads, meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
 
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
 
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experienced, career-level EHS professional with a comprehensive understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations, programs, and best practices.
 - Demonstrates advanced technical proficiency in hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance management.
 - Applies sound professional judgment and creative problem-solving to resolve a wide range of EHS challenges across operations and projects.
 - Operates with minimal supervision, exercising significant independence and accountability in daily decision-making.
 - Provides mentorship and guidance to less-experienced team members, supporting their professional growth and promoting a strong safety culture.
