Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Deputy Project Controls Manager and oversees the planning and scheduling of construction scope, reports progress, and initiates actions to assure program / project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within requirements and quality expectations.

 

This role is initially in our Warsaw, Poland office and then will transition to the site as construction progresses.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Directs all construction schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
  • Develops, interprets, and executes policy objectives and standards applicable to construction schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Directs construction schedule analysis/study and problem-solving activities. Develops and interprets guidelines applicable to the analysis function.
  • Directs construction schedule reporting activities and provides assistance and guidance for the display or presentation of schedule information.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with contractual and corporate schedule requirements, including those elements related to the project’s Earned Value Management processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining configuration control of the baseline construction schedule and supporting the project’s baseline change control process.
  • Works with all departments to ensure understanding of construction schedule interactions and dependencies.
  • Identifies construction schedule considerations and problems resulting from interdisciplinary or group restraints and interfaces.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing the integration of construction work scope into the total project plan, including identification of key interfaces with internal and external entities.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing the establishment and tracking of progress on meaningful intermediate milestones through all phases of construction execution.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing effective planning of activity durations and logic (including appropriate constraints) to support project milestones and overall delivery objectives.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing construction schedule resource loading and levelling.
  • Prepares and coordinates the development of staffing and execution plans for planning and scheduling activities.
  • Prepares, coordinates, and directs construction planning and scheduling presentations to Bechtel and client management, as required.
  • Conducts personnel performance reviews and career counselling.
  • Interviews candidates for employment and makes recommendations for employment decisions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a bachelors’ (BS/BA) degree from an accredited university and fifteen (15) or more years of relevant professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, high school diploma or equivalent and twenty-one (21) or more years of directly relevant professional experience.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education, and travel.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced capability level with Primavera (P6) and experience in its application on complex engineering and construction projects.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in directing construction planning and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and in the home office.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for project planning and scheduling activities.
  • Skilled in direction, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication, with a demonstrated ability to present planning and scheduling information to management and clients.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing, and solving problems.
  • Knowledgeable about current industry and technical developments.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes. 
  • Knowledge of construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
