Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will coordinate and update survey strategy, provide technical support for laser scanning and meteorology surveys, and oversee survey computer aided design (CAD) drawings, instrument calibration, subcontractor survey work, and project drone operations. Your recommendations will ensure drone flight safety and high quality, accurate work delivered within schedule and budget

Major Responsibilities:

  • Directs surveying  activities of the assigned construction survey staff, ensuring compliance with the law and procedures.
  • Assesses needs and supports survey training plan for the project.
  • Approves timecards, conducts performance assessments, and addresses employee relations concerns
  • Ensures the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
  • Ensures housekeeping and cleanliness of the project
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely
  • Ensures work methods planned and executed safely
  • Develops Job Hazard Analysis and updates it as needed, or requirements change
  • Oversees Survey calculations and Survey Reports for all project disciplines/scope
  • Possesses responsibility for ensuring compliance with procedures
  • Directs the maintenance of construction survey records for job history
  • Develops a process for tracking and maintaining required training and licenses
  • Prepares requisitions for consumables, services, and equipment
  • Develops a process for tracking and maintaining survey equipment measuring and test equipment (M&TE) records
  • Responsible for Survey Control and Monitoring and Settlement program
  • Coordinates with subcontractors for compliance with Project Survey specifications
  • Ensures that scheduling concerns and constraints are identified and elevated to the construction management team
  • Coordinates daily with direct hire and subcontract representatives on Survey construction activities

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Perform independent functions in the scope for which license is held.
  • Hold full legal capacity and have no disqualifying criminal record as per Art. 44.
  • Maintain required professional practice and education as per the licensing requirements.
  • Maintain a practice log if still completing the practice period.
  • Conduct survey/cartographic works (design, measurement, documentation) in accordance with Art. 2 definitions and applicable technical standards.
  • Prepare the required documentation (maps, inventories, etc.) meeting legal/technical standards.
  • Submit or report data/documents to the state geodetic-cartographic resource when required.
  • Act with due diligence, in compliance with current legal provisions and technical knowledge.
  • Protect geodetic marks and boundary markers as required by law/regulation.
  • Ensure that any firm or organisational unit you work with has appropriate legal status to perform geodetic/cartographic works.
  • Monitor for any regulatory changes (amendments, ordinances) that may affect the scope of work or obligations.
  • Be aware of disciplinary liability and the consequences of breaches of obligations.
  • Keep records/documentation of work, so that you can demonstrate compliance if required.
