Craft Training Lead

Responsible Training administration, employee orientation, and practical exams on projects, for administering Bechtel’s Competency Verification Program, and participating in the set up and maintenance of training facilities.  May provide training to craft employees and provide input to Workforce Development programs and procedures. 



A. Supervision Received

  • Receives operational supervision from a Workforce Services Manager
  • Receives functional supervision from a Regional Workforce Services Manager.

B. Supervision Exercised

  • Supervises project trainers and/or craft evaluators.

C. Contacts

  • Has regular contact with the craft workforce and/or general public.
  • Regularly interfaces with labor relations and construction management. 


  1. Supervises project trainers and/or craft evaluator(s).
  2. Provides guidance to Craft Trainers and Evaluators for training to all levels of craft, journeyman, foreman and general foreman.
  3. Oversees/performing capability assessments via the Competency Verification program.
  4. Responsible for project training facility layout, resource allocation, set-up and maintenance.
  5. May participate in the selection of evaluators/trainers.
  6. Coordinates and monitors classes, instructors, facilities, class times, participants (level) and instructor evaluations on each project.
  7. Collects, assembles, and analyzes training data and provides reports to site and WFS management regarding the projects training activities.
  8. Responsible for maintaining training and testing data in relevant WFS systems.
  9. Other duties as assigned.



Proven ability to define goals and deliverables and implement key programs on time and within budget.

Good analytical and strategic planning skills: able to prioritize, balance short and long-term priorities.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Competent use of Microsoft Office suite.

Prior Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Construction Trades, or Workforce Development/Training experience required.

Mastery of one or more craft discipline skill sets is desirable

Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable
