Mining and Metals
Increased production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind pipes to batteries. Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring the commissioning schedule. Ensuring that the full scope of work for the project is included in the plan, with appropriate scheduling sequences and logic, that comply with the critical path methodology (CPM). Developing key milestones to secure the project schedule and implement resource loading and leveling as needed. Establishing durations of work activities for a specific discipline or specialty. While this position focus is on commissioning planning, the role is expected to have full knowledge of EPC work processes and procedures as it relates to the successful planning and execution of a project. This is a senior position, with the expectation of directly performing all tasks, without extensive training.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the integration of the full scope for all functions, departments and/or disciplines in the schedule.
- Preparing and analyzing data benchmarkings with projects of similar scope and characteristics.
- Planing, organizing and executing the schedule the load and leveling of the resources to be controlled.
- Developing progress and workforce curves as well as system turnover skylines, etc that demonstrate and ensure realism in planning.
- Developing, evaluating and reviewing the duration of all schedule activities by each discipline and ensure they support the project’s milestones.
- Ensuring that all disciplines/departments are aware of and agree to the schedule and understand their responsibilities on the schedule.
- Working with all disciplines and stakeholders to coordinate work sequences and identify logical relationships and interdisciplinary constraints and/or interfaces for incorporation into the plan.
- Providing schedule knowledge, on an ongoing basis to assist in discipline planning and interaction with others.
- Carrying out schedule updates and continuous monitoring.
- Identifying deviations and work with the team to find and implement mitigations as needed.
- Developing and implementing the requirements and process for updating and monitoring the schedule.
- Carrying out comparative analyses with plans of similar characteristics and scope already executed to demonstrate the viability of the plan.
- Carrying out “what if” analysis of the project schedule as required to determine the criticality of the programmed activities.
- Recommending alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) of 10 to 13 years of relevant experience or if you do not have a bachelor's degree of 14 to 17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience developing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions for all commissioning scope including owner/operator activities.
- Advanced level of knowledge of processes and workflows as it relates to commissioning including the development of test schemes and coordination of walkdown, punchlist and turnover programs from construction / precomm to commissioning as well as system turnover to the client / owner.
- Demonstrated ability to develop complete commissioning schedules from scratch including all associated control tools such as system turnover skylines, testing skylines, commissioning percent complete, workforce curves, etc.
- Expertise in understanding technical processes and engineering drawings.
- Management of commonly used operating systems, with mastery of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams among others.
- Proficiency with multiple discipline-specific software applications currently in use at Bechtel (Primavera, Primavera Risk Annalysis and Microsoft Project, for example).
- Oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to present schedules to project and client management.
- Experience and knowledge in applying advanced work packaging (AWP), startup work package (SWP), test work package (TWP)
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred.
