ROLE OVERVIEW

Occasionally performs moderately complex assignments that require initiative and independent judgment in the selection and use of established principles and procedures. Performs a range of work activities in a wide variety of contexts. Plans, schedules and monitors own work within a limited time horizon, using applicable methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards effectively with only occasional reference to others. Responds to customers? needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective and timely manner and expedites corrective actions. Performs specific tasks while utilizing established information technology standards and methods. Works with client to define timeframe requirements. Assists junior team members with information technology activities.

Network/telecommunications intermediate: Installs, tests and supports local area network /wide area network and telecommunications components such as data/voice switches, routers, and/or voice/video equipment. Develops network/telecommunications operating procedures and guidelines as they relate to data/voice switches, routers, and/or voice/video equipment. Assists in developing standard network/telecommunication device configurations, address schema development, monitoring tool configuration and deployment. Prepares preventative maintenance schedules and backup program necessary to ensure robust network/telecommunications environment.

Customer support intermediate: Responds to desk side trouble ticket queues, documents support and diagnostic activities and accurately resolves and closes assigned trouble tickets by following customer support standards and procedures. Performs desk-side and remote workstation support. Installs and upgrades software and performs regular maintenance on personal computers and printers.

Infrastructure operations intermediate: Installs and upgrades software and performs regular maintenance on servers as required. Prepares preventative maintenance schedules and backup program necessary to ensure robust data center environment. Resolves problems and faults concerning installation of hardware or software. Migrates data and user accounts as required. Performs data backup according to established procedures and assures compliance with policy. Assists in preparing operating procedures and guidelines for data center equipment based upon operational experience. Assures that all work processes are properly tracked through the standard ticketing system. Maintains data center applications.

Makes frequent contact with Bechtel and/or project end users and customers to resolve problems and issues relating to information technology. May contact other personnel in IS&T, other Bechtel functions and/or projects, and selected users to gather or provide information on specialized information technology related activities. May liaise with vendors and equipment providers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Recognized degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited college or university, or specialized courses in network/telecommunications, customer support, and/or infrastructure operations, and practical work experience in information technology or other relevant experience.

Working knowledge of:

Infrastructure systems architecture concepts, configurations and standards.

Corporate, industry and professional standards.

Basic knowledge of:

Preparation, coordination and execution of project proposals and Information Technology (IT) plans.

Project management concepts and tools.

Ability to handle customer interactions in an accurate, effective and timely manner, and to articulate ideas and write clear & concise reports.

Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate.
