Enviromental Lead

Job Overview:

The Senior Environmental Specialist provides the support to project leaders to implement environmental management programs, systems and processes; provides the technical oversight of environmental activities; and provides the overall support for the project to be successful in controlling the risk of harm to the environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains the project Construction Environmental Control Plan (CECP)
  • Adopts client and regulatory requirements into the CECP where required by contract or law
  • Actively supports field leaders in the implementation of the CECP
  • Monitors the implementation of the CECP and reports successes and areas of improvement
  • Identifies environmental best practices for implementation
  • Evolves and adapts the CECP through the project stages
  • Identifies environmental activities to minimise risk associated with the project schedule
  • Liaises and openly communicates with field leaders and the GBU ESH Manager on environmental needs
  • Maintains a working relationship with client representatives, subcontractors and other ESH team members
  • Acts as the lead investigator for any significant environmental incident on project
  • Acts as the government agency escort for site visits related to environmental matters
  •  Liaises and openly communicates with area leaders on environmental status and needs
  • Clear understanding of environmental local laws and regulations (CHILE)
  • Understanding of EIA requirements and pertmits execution.
  • Develops environmental procedures.
  • Assess and assist the construction professionals on environmental concerns and issues.

Grades 26 

+        Supervises and maintains a team that provides in-field environmental support

·        Professional skill set to deliver quality outputs of an ESH program

·        High level of written and verbal communication

·        Attributes that openly display ESH as a personal value

·        Ability to priorities tasks to meet deadlines, targets and objectives



Essential Experience/Knowledge:

·        Experience in influencing at a leader level

  • Knowledge of construction planning through the project stages of feasibility, execution and close-out
  • Experience in managing and/or providing technical oversight of ESH subcontractors or consultants


Grade 26


·  6-8 years of environmental experience in the industrial construction or heavy engineering industry

·  2+ years of experience directly supervising a team of 3 to 4 environmental professionals or working in a complex work environment


Desired Qualification:

·        Bachelor degree or higher in an environmental engineering, environmental discipline.
