The project scope includes planning, design, integration and delivery of major airfield infrastructure, buildings, systems and associated periphery infrastructure.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will develop plans to implement a comprehensive social sustainability strategy for projects that is aligned with customer requirements. You will assess the consequences of project decisions and advise project teams on potential community impacts, expectations, and related implications. You will help reduce the social impacts of operations and enhance social benefits.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans, implements, and maintains the organization's social sustainability program to reduce the social impacts of operations and enhance social and economic benefits.  Develops tools, guidance, policies, and procedures for implementation.
  • Collects information on impacts of programs and monitors and facilitates progress of social sustainability program area consistent with strategies, goals, measurements, and reporting standards
  • Coordinates with and provides technical assistance to other project functional leads (e.g., procurement, construction, planners, project controls) with regards to developing project-specific social sustainability requirements such that social sustainability issues, concerns, requirements are integrated fully and appropriately addressed
  • Provides advice for projects to manage social sustainability programs and supports community relations/social performance staff in the implementation of the activities, ensuring alignment with the project communications strategy
  • Maintains favorable relationships with the surrounding communities through proactive management of social impacts and opportunities
  • Provides advice to project teams on potential community impacts, expectations, and related implications; assesses consequences of project decisions; and works with project functional teams to develop proactive solutions to community and environmental issues to minimize external risks and manage public expectations
  • Develops and delivers sustainability training to support the project social sustainability strategy

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree and  relevant experience relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Monitors ongoing understanding of national and regional sustainability priorities and plans and keeps abreast of legislative developments, stakeholder interests and concerns, and other influential trends
  • Anticipates and manages external issues, with particular emphasis on issues that have, or have the potential to, become the focus of media attention and or reputational impacts for Bechtel projects.
  • Participates in the development of plans for Site Management to implement, a comprehensive social sustainability strategy for projects (as required) that is aligned with the customer’s requirements.
