Senior / Principal Process Safety and Loss Prevention Engineer

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates process safety work for a global business unit delivering studies, FEED and EPC projects in Oil and Gas Industry.  Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include solving complex risk and safety design issues. Ability to support multiple projects as a subject matter expert.
  2. Review and provide design recommendations for new projects and proposed facility modifications to ensure conformance with process safety and loss prevention codes, standards and procedures
  3. Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel and provides input for their performance evaluations.
  4. Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
  5. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
  6. Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Chartered Engineer with indepth relevant experience in FEED and EPC Projects in the fields of Refining, Petrochemicals, Gas Processing, Utilities & Offsites.

Candidate should have comprehensive experience in following process safety activities:

  • Active and passive fire protection system design in the Refining, Gas Processing and Petrochemical plants including P&IDs, layouts, datasheets, network sizing
  • Fire and Gas detection systems design
  • Escape Routes, Safety Equipment Layouts for onshore and offshore
  • Consequence modelling, QRA, safety studies, safety cases, COMAH.
  • HAZID/ ENVID/ Bowties / HAZOP / LOPA
  • Hazardous Area Classification
  • Working knowledge of various International codes and standards including NFPA, API, EI
  • Proven experience in leading the Discipline in major projects – with large teams across multiple execution centers
  • Reliability studies, fault trees, RAM studies.
  • Working experience and knowledge of software such as PHAST, CANARY, PHAPro, Pipenet, Flaresim, Aermod etc.

Required:

  • A university course degree from an accredited university in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Indepth relevant industry experience in Oil and Gas sector.
  • Excellent technical and managerial skills, with both verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred: 

  • Advanced degree (MTech or PhD) in the areas of process safety
  • Process Safety Professional Membership
  • TUV certification for Functional Safety
  • Previous experience in chairing HAZID / HAZOP / SIL / Bowties
