Position Summary

Bechtel Enterprises, Inc. (BEn) is the project development and project finance arm of Bechtel, the world's leading engineering and construction company. In the UK we operate through Bechtel Financing Services Limited, a unit of BEn authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

BEn is active in project development, financial advisory, and strategic analysis. Key sectors of specialty include Renewables, Energy Transition, Power and Energy, Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Water, Transportation, Smart Infrastructure, Communications, Nuclear, Transmission, and Mining & Metals.

We assist the business units in evaluating new and existing markets, crafting market entry strategies and examining new trends in their business lines. We analyse project economics, develop and implement financing plans, structure and negotiate commercial arrangements, form development partnerships, recommend investment decisions, and manage project assets. BEn Associates often go on to management positions in other areas of the company. Bechtel Enterprises is headquartered in Reston, Virginia and has offices in Abu Dhabi Houston, London, Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Sydney and Washington, D.C. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate for the London-based role will preferably have experience in supporting of project development, equity investments, project financing, feasibility studies, mergers and acquisitions, as well as other commercial activities. Responsibilities within the team include:

 

  • Financial and economic analysis of potential projects, new markets, new technologies, potential partners, competitors, and M&A targets to evaluate profitability, risk, and other factors
  • Project development activities including financial modelling, permitting, site control negotiations, and project financing
  • Supporting project bids and project financing for infrastructure projects, including preparing qualifications and proposals, reviewing commercial agreements, and analysing potential financing, development, and partnership structures
  • Analysing commercial terms and conditions in order to provide recommendations to business units to enhance competitiveness and/or mitigate risk
  • Provide strategy support to Global Business Units, regions, and business lines

                                                                                              
The office location is in London, UK, but domestic and international travel may be required depending on business needs.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or similar discipline is preferred with relevant experience
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Significant experience within the infrastructure finance and/or energy sectors is desired.
  • Professional fluency in foreign languages and work experience in multiple countries are beneficial.
  • The candidate is expected to have an interest in finance theory and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to practical issues and decisions in business.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, and other quantitative analysis tools, as well as knowledge of financial modelling standards (e.g. F1F9) are beneficial.
  • The ability to perform quantitative analysis independently is critical.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in international business and infrastructure financing and development.
  • Eagerness to help Bechtel identify and seize new business opportunities.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field is preferred.
