Project Controls Technician Apprentice

Project controls is a key function within the organisation and provides planning & scheduling, estimating and cost engineering solutions to the rest of the company. Project controls is central in helping our managers deliver projects on time, on schedule and to quality standards. In the project controls function, you will learn how the business works, gain valuable experience and make an impact on our customer’s projects, our communities, our culture, and our organization. A project controls apprentice will be required to assist in basic cost estimating analysis, schedule development, maintenance, reporting, and monitoring activities as directed. Duties will consist of a variety of tasks within set parameters established by the relevant project controls procedure or process with guidance and support being provided by other members of the team. 


This role is based initially in London but in the future candidates should expect to work from other UK locations or, in time, elsewhere in the world.





•           Learn how to analyse in detail the resources required to deliver complex infrastructure projects.

•           Calculate durations for schedule activities within a discipline or specialty based on project scope

•           Gather information to support specific schedule studies and work with senior planners to create programmes using various planning tools such as Primavera, MS Project, Milestones, Schedule Contingency calculators, etc.



•           Learn how to prepare and apply cost, risk and change management processes on a project by collecting, classifying and analysing cost data using cost tools such as MS Excel, Ecosys, @Risk etc.



You’ll need at least five GCSEs including Maths and English with minimum grade B or above.



The apprenticeship programme will include attending classes and undertaking work assignments with our accredited training provider for 36 to 42 months.



Apprentices who complete this apprenticeship will be eligible to apply for registration as an Engineering Technician. They will also be eligible for membership of the Association of Cost Engineers (ACostE).
